Environmental

Consideration

A key priority for all construction projects is care for the environment. This means carrying out the works with minimum environmental and biodiversity disruption, whilst reducing carbon footprint and exploring ways of incorporating environmental enhancement into the scheme.

Ecological Impact Assessment (EcIA):

This report has been produced to assess the ecological impacts of the proposal and establish mitigation measures to be carried forward into the construction phase and beyond. Findings of the report can be found in full:

Habitats Regulations Assessment:

When a proposed development is located either within, adjacent to or has an impact pathway between the proposed works and an European protected site, a Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) is carried out by a competent authority. The assessment is carried out to test if a plan or project proposal could significantly harm the designated features of an European site.

European sites protected by the Habitats Regulations include Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and Ramsar sites.

Noise and Vibration Assessment:

As the proposed project is likely to generate noise and vibration levels that are above the existing, causing disturbance to residents, a noise and vibration assessment has been carried out. In summary, the assessment has concluded that the impacts of the construction noise on the nearest residential receptors can be acceptable with suggested noise mitigation measures and best practice.

Local residents will receive a letter to inform of the work programme and when to expect specific disturbances. A point of contact will also be made available before, during and after the works.
